The Liberal Cup Public House & Brewery is a 7-barrel brew pub nestled in historic downtown Hallowell, ME.
Our selections are best described as approachable, with many being good complements to our menu. This is because we brew mostly session ales (with a few strong exceptions, like our cult favorite Smelt Camp Strong Ale). Our beers are not boutique or extreme; they are brewed (and priced) to be enjoyed time and again—in the same visit or over the years. Our pints are generous servings of 20 ounces (hence the name, The Liberal Cup; it’s not political, despite our location).
We have a rotating selection of 6 taps (including a cask-conditioned) and a guest tap from another craft brewery. Brewing in small batches from our 26 recipes allows us to keep our offerings fresh, seasonal, and varied. Are you worried about those in your party who are not into craft beer? We also serve bottled beers, quality wines, and have a full bar of spirits. If you find yourself coming ‘round often, be sure to ask one of our servers about the rules for joining our Mug Club.
